a new collection of materials with the
fitting title "ultra materials - how materials innovation is changing the world" (in book form: isbn 978-3791338637) has now been published. the follow-up volume to "material connexion" presents 400 of the most innovative materials and 3,000 samples of high-tech materials, thus providing a source of information and inspiration for designers, architects and artists.
well-known architects use examples to show ways of using the materials. designers like philippe starck and

the 1750 exhibitors of the trade fair "interzum" were invited to take part in the first "interzum award" competition.
the submitted products were judged under the aspects of functionality, environmental standards and innovation.
an international jury of experts including hannes wettstein (designer and architect, switzerland), peter zec (president, design
zentrum nordrhein westfalen), james irvine (designer, milan) and volker staab (architect, berlin) made a careful and objective selection from the entries. wellboard gamma and wellium both received the coveted "best of the best" interzum award.
all winners of the competition are introduced in the book "interzum award: intelligent material & design 2001" which is published in two languages. |
